8 Things to Know
Are you wondering how using a skating treadmill works?
8 things to know…
- Register On line (after Aug 15th) or call to register at (905) 434-5257 booking a time that fits with your schedule or the training schedule for your team.
- Show up 15 minutes before your scheduled time to change and stretch. We recommend using lower body equipment to model actual application.
- Athletes wear a harness and are tethered to an overhead gantry for safety. Up to 5 skaters train at the facility at one time. Each take a rotation on the treadmill one at a time as the time on the treadmill models the time on a shift of hockey.
- A Scary Skate trained professional, tailors a program to suit the skill level and the objectives for each skater.
- As the skater takes their “shift” they watch themselves in a mirror. At the same time their skating can be video taped from the front and side. The trainer provides immediate feedback evaluating and correcting in real time.
- As the skaters rotate through the cycle, the one coming off the treadmill is shown frame by frame video taped footage of their skate.
- Improvement happens quickly and can be examined using our state of the art software in which video of each skater is superimposed onto video previously taken of that same skater or of a model skater.
- Other types of analysis and fitness measurement services will be available at the CSE center using the skating treadmill facility.
